🗓️ Weekly Rundown🗓️
Cards are a cheat code.
Step 1. Start playing cards.
Step 2. Wait until people flock to you.
Step 3. Ask, “Where are you from?”
Boom. You just made a friend. Now if Blake and I are ever in Sydney, Australia, we have a place to crash.
French girls taught us a new card game called “Danish,” and they learned Euchre in record time. It was extremely impressive. Danish seems to be a French variant of the most common European card game, shithead.
Very fun talking about cultural differences across countries. It’s clear the European mind can’t comprehend that we have access to guns and can go to the range and shoot for fun. The American mind can’t comprehend that people in Spain don’t work from around 2–5 and get over five weeks of holiday. Honorable mentions: you can buy beer at McDonald’s.
Confirmed Aussies are GOATed everyone of them is sweet.
Don’t eat hotdogs from a jar
Taught a middle aged man how multiplication works and had to explain dispite math not being “real” and just a human invention it is still very useful
Anyone who says God doesn’t do miracles these days hasn’t seen EU bus drivers going through Lisbon. The streets are so tight. There are less than inches between mirrors. But after they pop the sidewalk and shoot a prayer, somehow they make it.
Was up till 3 a.m. drinking Portuguese wine, discussing free markets and capitalism with non-Americans. Animal Farm has been my most useful read, and I am a big supporter of free markets and capitalism despite all of its flaws. #ProudAmerican
Have had so many conversations that I’ve memorized the Bill of Rights and the most useful amendments. Can’t stress enough that the European mind can’t fathom the Second Amendment or how laws can differ between states.
There are some crazy people in a hostel
Lisbon lowkey dogged us. They charge you to use the bathroom, public transport isn’t all-inclusive, and getting bread out of the storage thing is hard af. For those reasons, Lisbon is getting a thumbs down. But the food and the wine is crazy. Met a local who gave us the rundown. Thankful we met him, and I hope he balls out in France.
Rummy is a game of runs. You can be up 800–600, then lose 1,000–1,500, and the next day win 1,500–1,100. We played hecka cards. A Polish lady didn’t approve of how much we played.
Saw the waves of Nazaré. There were big waves and they never stop coming but no 80 foot waves today.
Learned Singapore’s inner workings and the unique rules, plus the reasoning behind them. He told us gum was illegal there, so naturally we gave him American delicacies, including Extra Polar Ice gum.
Shout out to Charles Terrence Balko III for the connection to Yahya and for being such a good friend. He’s willing to host us solely based on knowing CTB3. I hope his aunt likes Swedish Fish, Sour Patch Kids, and postcards.
Morocco customs are scary af
Met Morocco locals, Yahya and his family, and were invited in their home, never meet more welcoming people.
In Morocco your mom can’t yell at you for eating with your hands, instead the people get excited and hype you up for eating how they do.
In USA we have Blood and Crips, in Casa Blanca they have Wydad (red) and Raja (green) and they are solely based on what soccer team you like. #TeamRaja
Instead of shaking hands or hugging, in Morocco you greet people with a kiss on each cheek. Yahya’s uncle gave us a very warm welcome and introduced us to the custom. If I had to sum it up in a song, I’d use Tracy Lawrence’s song, Long Wet Kiss. PS: there is nothing gay about this custom, as gay is haram.
Morocco=GOATed
Yahya and his family = GOATed
Still haven’t figured out where I can and can’t where shoes and when to wear shoes or sandals.

High:
Morocco locals invited us into their home and treated us like family. Big shout out to Yahya and his family, especially his aunts and uncle.
Low:
Wasn’t smart enough to figure out how to get the bread out of the display case in Nazaré. #NegativeAura
Buffalo:
Told someone I was American and he then smiled and asked “Are you a university gooner?”
